Cynefin House System

The House System was introduced in the 23/24 Academic year, and proved incredibly popular with staff and pupils. In the 23/24 year, all staff and pupils were randomly allocated to a house to compete as a team collecting points throughout each year. At the start of year school year, the points are reset and the competition restarts. Pupils or staff can gain points through:

  • Big school events: Race for Life, Eisteddfod & Sports Day
  • Individual teacher allocation: Some staff have created pots for each house with counters for pupils to put in.
  • Individual lesson competition: PE lesson tournaments, Mathswatch or Duolingo challenges, Music competitions etc.
  • Nominations: Pupils or staff can be nominated for a number of different reasons including good manners, effort & enthusiasm, Use of Welsh and others.
  • All year 7 pupils (and new pupils to the school) will be allocated a house when starting, pupils and staff will remain in the same houses.
  • Throughout the year, ‘House Assemblies’ will appear before big events run by the Heads of House and House Captains (Head Students/Leadership Team).
