North Wales Get Jerky Car Rally 2026

The Friends have been invited to manage the car parking for the North Wales Car Rally, which will take place in Dyfnant Forest on Saturday, 28th  March 2026. Half of the proceeds from the parking fees will be donated to us to support the school, we understand this could amount to around £2,000.  The support of Sixth Form students, parents and staff with this task would be amazing.

There are also opportunities to help at the Welshpool Livestock Market on the Friday and Saturday during scrutineering and rally preparations. Sixth Form students are invited to assist at the Seven Stars Car Park in Welshpool on the day of the rally, where six static rally cars will be displayed. Each car will be supported by two students and a rally expert. Additional rally-related activities will be taking place there, and students interested in media studies will have the chance to spend time with the professional rally commentator. Budding engineers, photographers and artists are also warmly encouraged to get involved.

The Friends cannot take on such a large task alone. We will need a minimum of thirty volunteers on the Saturday and between six and eight volunteers on the Friday. Anyone with a quad bike would be especially welcome to help with parking in the forest!

Once we have further information, we will arrange to visit the school to speak with students and staff. In the meantime, please consider whether you would like more details and whether you can commit to supporting the Friends with this exciting opportunity.

Welshpool Winter Festival

The Friends spent a thoroughly enjoyable day at the Welshpool Winter Festival, catching up with familiar faces and collecting a few new ones along the way. Our supremely delicious hot chocolate drinks didn’t just sell well… they practically launched themselves off the shelf!   The mince pies, lovingly crafted by some of the wonderful students were also enjoyed by lots of people.

We also sold raffle tickets right up until 4:00pm, when the grand draw took place, along with some beautiful Christmas cards by ‘Alff a Bet Designs’.

A huge thank you to everyone who bought tickets – your support means the world to us and to our fantastic High School.

The prize winners were:

1st Linzi Jones £100

2nd Megan Davies £50

3rd Kate Young £25
