TRANSITION

Student Introduction

"Starting secondary school can be a scary experience; but here at Welshpool High School we ensure a smooth transition so you can enjoy life at secondary school. The friendly and welcoming environment at Welshpool made our initial time fun and exciting. The teachers and staff at the school always do their utmost to guide you throughout your time here; whether it is helping you with your homework or giving you advice about possible careers later on.

The students at the High School help you even more so, offering you advice about subjects based on their previous experiences as well as being able to help with homework. These, in combination, allow you to take advantage of all the opportunities available.

The variety of subjects allows you to discover and enjoy new interests and with the wide range of extra curricular activities, including sports clubs, music and many others means you will never be bored while at Welshpool High School.

For us, our time at Welshpool High School has been memorable and amazing and we are sure you will feel the same. So enjoy your time at high school and don’t worry; there are so many people around to help, should you need it. We hope you will enjoy your time here at Welshpool High School!"

Year 7 Transition Days

All our new pupils are invited to spend two days at the high school in July to start finding their way around and begin to experience high school life.

We really look forward to our transition days, as we know that they go a long way to ease many of the anxieties the Year 6's have prior to starting in September. Our transition process begins in Year 5, with visits to the primary schools to introduce them to the many opportunities available to them in high school, followed by two further visits in Year 6 where all of their questions are answered and they are prepared for their two day visit.
